Tantric Vocabulary

Tantra
A Spiritual path that includes philosophy and practical instruction in the use of hatha yoga, pranayama, meditation, mantra, yantra, mudras, rituals and hundreds of esoteric techniques for the awakening of higher awareness and gaining spiritual prosperity.

Kundalini:
One of the primary purposes of Tantra (and Tantric Bodywork) is to awaken the Kundalini. The Kundalini is a very powerful, intense, and healing form of energy that (for most people) is lying dormant at the base of the spine (the sacrum). To fully awaken this powerful energy can take years of devoted practice in the various disciplines of the Tantric Arts.

Once awakened, the Kundalini will rise from its resting-place under the sacrum and move up the spine, energizing and healing, eventually re-circulating throughout the entire body. The Kundalini is known to infuse a tremendous amount of energy into a person and has an incredible ability to heal almost any affliction, be it physical, emotional, or spiritual.

Chakras:
From the Tantric perspective, there are many energy centers in the body. The seven primary psycho-energetic vortices are referred to as Chakras (loosely translated as “Wheels of Light”), each having a specific function in the body. Most important is the Heart Chakra. There are three Chakras above and three Chakras below the Heart Chakra. The upper three have to do with intellect and spirituality. The three lower Chakras deal with base human needs and emotions. The Heart Chakra balances the Spirit with the flesh. This Chakra is the seat of unconditional love and divine grace. I will start the sessions with Chakra balancing.

Tantric Bodywork:
Since there are no real standards, every therapist may do something different. So you can never quite be sure what you are getting when you hear the term “Tantric Massage”. Often it is used as a “buzz-word” for a simple sensual or sexual massage. That is not the case here.

Your Tantric journey with Alaya can include interactive elements such as vulnerable communication, eye contact, guided meditation, breathing techniques, Chakra activations, play on the senses, sensual erotic touch, deep relaxation, body-to-body compressions, lingam/sacred spot massage. Ultimately it is a style that increases your energy levels and encourages you to have a deeper connection with your own body.

Benefits can include an increase in confidence, libido, conscious arousal, deeper connection and intimacy with yourself and others, awakened sexuality, improved sexual performance, and stress relief.

Lingam Massage:
Lingam is the Sanskrit word for the penis. It literally means “wand of light”. Lingam massage is the ritual of honoring and healing this part of the body. Touching the penis not from a place of arousal and orgasm but joy and wonder of this beautiful part of the body. Difficulty with premature ejaculation or improving male sexual stamina can often be healed through the loving nurturing of the Lingam. Through this sacred ritual, you learn to release old beliefs that are keeping you from your full potential as a lover and your full enjoyment of your sexuality. The gift is in the experience of receiving touch without an end goal in mind, there is no ejaculation during this process,  all you have to do is surrender and feel and allow for this healing touch to nourish you.

Sacred Spot Massage:
Sacred Spot (Prostate) Massage is a sacred tantric ritual used to awaken this sexual-spiritual focus point in your body. The prostate is reached through the anus and is located by gently inserting a finger and slightly curling it up towards the belly. Men fear not, this may be one of the most erotic and incredibly sexual experiences you have ever had. A prostate massage will open your body to run more energy, experience more pleasure, release sexual trauma, and let go of deeply held emotions. Some doctors also believe that prostate massage is an important part of male genital health and sexual wellbeing.

Yoni Massage:
Yoni, pronounced yo-nee, is the Sanskrit word for “vagina”, and means “sacred temple” or “sacred space”. The holistic approach is that Yoni massage is a spiritual practice that allows a woman to connect to her goddess essence, her feminine core, her Shakti in its many expressions, and ultimately, connect to God.

The art and practice of yoni massage is a part of sexual tantra and sacred intimacy.
Yoni massage is a whole-body experience that includes touching, arousing, and massaging the whole body, focusing on the neck and shoulders, buttocks, breasts, hip-joint, and finally, the outside and then inside of the yoni, while occasionally massaging the rest of the body. The gift is in the experience of receiving touch without an end goal in mind, all you have to do is surrender and feel and allow for this healing touch to nourish you.
